Hi everybody,
a friend of mine is going to Buenos Aires, soon. He dances Argentine tango and it would be cool for him to have a few addresses and to know what is going to expect him there. Entrance fees, dress codes, hierarchies and invisible rules (f.e. don't sit at tables that are "owned" by "the elders"), places that are friendly to foreigners and maybe places that make it more difficult for "strangers" (but you get to see some cool dancing or to hear some cool music in there). Unfortunately he doesn't speak Spanish, he will have to resort to visual communication (his English is rather bad, too). So it would be cool for him to know some stuff beforehand.

Re: Cool places in Buenos Aires?
Wed, February 6, 2008 - 8:02 AMOh, too bad, I used to have a whole folder of info on BA saved up but lost it all when I bought a new computer. My friend Cherie from Tango-L lives there, and she has a blog on life in BA and tango.

Best place to ask about these things is Tango-L, so check out www.tango-l.com or go through their archive. (can be found on google under tango-l)
Igor has a blog on tango too: people.tribe.net/93e0c944-...43ffaf16e0

Fri, May 2, 2008 - 1:53 PMYou could try Practica X, anything at Villa Malcom, or La Viruta on Sunday nights. Probably best to just get a feel for what's going on when you arrive - there'll be plenty happening. Have fun! -

Re: Cool places in Buenos Aires?
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 2:55 AMIt was for a friend. I thought maybe he'd get there and had trouble finding the good spots. He has already been there and as tango tourism is booming (I read a 100.000 tango tourists each year) there are plenty of milongas and places and he just opened an actual guide, stayed in a "tango hotel" and had no trouble getting around at all.
